Speedy Spaniard 10K

Ha Ha...I think that name is so funny! I wanted to run another 10K before my big half marathon so I signed up to run the Speedy Spaniard on the 24th of July. The route had some big hills in it but I made it and beat my last 10K time by 2 1/2 minutes...Yea!!! We stayed at Mel and Josh's house the night before and Mel woke up at 5 a.m. to take me to the race...thanks Mel!!! When I got to the finish line, Todd and the boys, and Mel and Josh and their kids were all waiting for me and cheering me on. That was so nice since it was so early in the morning to have all 5 kids up and ready, but it sure made me feel good! :)
After my race we went to watch the Spanish Fork 24th of July parade. The kids loved it of course but Todd, well not so much. I think it was a bigger accomplishment that Todd went to another parade than it was for me to run a 10K! :) He said that since he as been to two parades in one month he shouldn't have to go to another one for years!!! Well, we will see Todd! :) We ended our celebration with some yummy food after the parade. It was a fun day!Watching the parade...look at all those happy faces! No wonder Todd loves parades so much!

Shoe Obsession!!!!

Briggs has been crawling for a good couple of months and it has been so fun. Even when he was just barely skooting along, he would come and find me where ever I was in the house. I love seeing his cute little face peek around the corner at me and smile and squeel like he is so proud of himself for coming all that way and finding me...so cute! This is an image I never want to forget!!

We have come across a problem though since Briggs as been crawling. He has developed a HUGE obsession with shoes! He will spot shoes anywhere in the house and go get them and put them in his mouth. He loves sucking on shoes!!!! There will be toys all over the place and he will pass right by them to get to the shoes he sees. He even figured out the specific spots in the house he could find the most shoes, so we have been extra careful to not leave shoes laying around. Somehow still, everytime I turn around he has a shoe in his mouth...so funny!
Another image I never want to forget is Briggs' cute smile with just his two bottom teeth...so adorable!! It is my favorite! Briggs is growing so fast and I am loving every stage he goes through.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN!!!!

Last week we headed up to my mom's side family reunion. It was at Downata Hot Springs...and it was a blast! It is always fun to see my cousins that I really only see at family reunions. My boys had lots of fun playing with all the other kids and doing all the activities that my cousins had planned. They got to go on a bearhunt with their flashlights, go fishing for a prize in a fish pond, and dig for coins in a sawdust pile. Then of course we got to swim! It was all lots of fun! We felt bad skipping out on my reunion but we only stayed one night and then went on up to Todd's parents for a couple of days.

It seems that we only make it up to Island Park to see Todd's parents in the winter so we decided since we were already up that way we should go visit and let the boys fish with their grandpa and experience it when there isn't 6 feet or so of snow! It was absolutely beautiful this time of year. Everything was so green and wild flowers everywhere. We all had a great time and wish that we could have spent a few more days there!

Watching grandpa Mullen fish by their cabin. Jaygen watched his every move and didn't leave his side.

The highlight for me was when my father-in-law Jim floated us in his boat down the Henry's Fork River! The scenery was beautiful and I caught my first fish in years...it was good size too! Mary kept Briggs at the cabin and Jaygen and Pace got to float in the boat with us. Jaygen loved it, but we learned real quick that Pace was to young for that long of a fishing trip!

Showing off the fish I caught...all thanks to my great fishing guide, thanks Jim!!!

Todd let Jaygen reel in some of the fish he caught and Jaygen loved it!

While we were there Mary and I took the boys to see the Mesa Falls. Wow...what a breath-taking site! We also took the boys to feed the fish at Warm Creek (I think is what it was called). They had lots of fun watching the fish jump to get the bread they would throw. The fish didn't get too much bread from Pace though because he would take a bite, then throw some to the fish, and then he would take another bite. It was hilarious!! We had a great time...thanks Jim and Mary! :)

Happy 4th of July!!

We have celebrated the 4th of July every year in Delta since we have moved here and love it. The small town celebrations are the best! My parents were here to celebrate with us again and this year Todd's brother Kevin and his family Candace, Lillian, and Isabelle, came to see what we keep raving about to them. I hope they had as much fun as we always do!

We of course started off the celebrating with the kids parade the night of the 3rd. We got the bikes and wagon all decorated up for the 2 minutes (that's what is seems like) it takes them to ride down the street. I think this is actually my favorite part of the whole celebration. I love seeing my boys so excited!

Briggs loved riding in the wagon!

The parade went to fast I didn't even get pictures of Isabelle and Lillian...sorry! But they looked way cute too!

I started the morning of the 4th off with a 5k race. Since Candace was going to be here, I even convinced her to run it too! It actually turned out to be more of an obstacle course because we had to scale a closed gate (must be a Delta thing) but I was still so surprised with the time we got...we did awesome. It was fun minus the scrapes from the fence!!!!

Then we headed to the parade. The kids had fun and of course loaded up on candy. After the parade we went to the park to get in on all that fun. The kids played on the big blow up toys and then they rode the horses. All the kids had a horse ride and Jaygen loved it so much he asked grandpa for money to ride again! By that time everyone was about pooped out so we headed home.

Some of us went to the matinee movie and then we came home and set up the little pools in the back yard so the kids could play in the water while we BBQ some yummy food! The kids were pretty tired by now but had fun cooling off in the water. Briggs especially LOVED the water!

We skipped out on the derby this year since it isn't that much fun with little kids and stayed home to do our own fireworks. It was a long and tiring day but we had a great 4th of July as always!!!!

Fish Lake

We headed out on another camping trip and had a great time! We went to Fish Lake and spent a couple of nights. We went on bike rides, played catch and baseball, the boys explored, and most importantly the boys finally caught some fish. We haven't had good luck fishing but finally it was there time. They just caught little perch, but still, they were fish!! Just about every time they would cast out they would get a bite and the boys loved it! Pace was pretty nervous at first and he kept calling them sharks and didn't want them to eat him, but after awhile he started being brave. What was Briggs doing while we fished?? Well, if he wasn't sleeping, he was eating dirt, emptying out the tackle boxes, or trying to climb in the water! :) We had a great couple of days!!!!!

Briggs just chillin'

Sitting by the campfire...one of Jaygen's favorite things!

My mom and dad came up one day to have lunch with us and celebrate my dad's 67th birthday. I had made my dad a chocolate cake and took with us. It was killing me having it sit in my trailor until they got there, so we cut into it the night before and had some. I was hoping that once we got candles in it, he wouldn't notice some was gone...no luck! He just started laughing when he saw it and new excatly what had happened. My dad knows me all to well! Happy birthday dad...we love you!!!
